China Talks About Friendship with India, But Chooses Pakistan: Why It’s Hard to Trust

China often says that it wants India and China to be friends.
They use nice words like,

“The Elephant (India) and the Dragon (China) should dance together.”

But when we look at China’s actions, they tell a different story.

What China Says and What It Does

China talks about peace and friendship with India.

But at the same time, China gives full support to Pakistan, even when Pakistan does things that hurt India.

China has also fought with Indian soldiers on the border (like in Galwan in 2020).

China blocks India’s efforts at the United Nations when India tries to act against terrorists hiding in Pakistan.

China is building big roads and projects (like CPEC) through disputed areas (like Pakistan-occupied Kashmir), which India claims as its own.

Why Does China Support Pakistan?

China has its own reasons:

Pakistan is useful for China to keep India “busy” with problems.

China wants to build a big trade route (CPEC) through Pakistan to reach the Arabian Sea.

China sees Pakistan as a small but loyal partner against growing Indian power in Asia.

By supporting Pakistan, China tries to balance India so that India does not become too strong.

Is Real Friendship Possible?

Right now, it is difficult.

Friendship cannot be built only on good words.

Trust is built by good actions — respecting borders, supporting peace, and not helping enemies.

Until China changes its behavior — and respects India’s security — true friendship will remain a dream, not a reality.

In simple words:

China says, “Let’s dance together,”
but pulls India’s leg when the dance starts!
